The Bishop of Pensacola-Tallahassee Visits the Dicastery

On Thursday, 24 September 2026, H.E. Bishop William Albert Wack, Bishop of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, visited the Dicastery, where he was welcomed by H.E. Archbishop Rino Fisichella. The Bishop was accompanied by Mrs Marylin Santos, Deputy Director of the Secretariat for Evangelization and Catechesis of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and recently instituted as a catechist.

The visit provided an opportunity to officially welcome H.E. Bishop Wack in his new role as President-Elect of the Committee for Evangelization and Catechesis of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, a position in which he will succeed H.E. Archbishop Charles C. Thompson, Archbishop of Indianapolis.

The meeting, held in a cordial atmosphere, provided an opportunity to reflect on some of the principal challenges facing the proclamation of the Gospel today in a complex social context marked by profound difficulties. At the same time, it emerged that, even in such a context, a fruitful search for meaning and a renewed openness to the faith continue to manifest themselves.

Particular attention was given to the growing number of people who wish to become Catholic Christians and who undertake appropriate paths of formation and accompaniment in the faith. This phenomenon is a sign of hope and highlights the importance of an evangelizing action capable of responding to the questions and needs of the men and women of our time.
