Sixth Sunday of the Word of God
It will be celebrated in St Peter’s Basilica in the presence of Pope Francis on Sunday 26 January 2025, as an integral part of the Jubilee Year.
The motto chosen is taken from the book of the Psalms: “I hope in your Word” (Ps 119:74).
Sunday of the Word of God 2024
For next year’s ‘Sunday of the Word of God’, which will be celebrated in St Peter’s Basilica in the presence of Pope Francis on Sunday 21 January 2024, the motto chosen is taken from the Gospel of St John: “Remain in my Word” (John 8,31).

January 23, 2022, will see the third celebration of the Sunday of the Word of God, which was instituted by Pope Francis on September 30, 2019.
At 9:30 a.m. the Holy Father will preside at Holy Mass in Saint Peter's Basilica. In compliance with the health regulations currently in force, the number of participants at the Holy Mass will be limited to two thousand. Consequently, I hereby declare that the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time is to be devoted to the celebration, study and dissemination of the word of God. This Sunday of the Word of God will thus be a fitting part of that time of the year when we are encouraged to strengthen our bonds with the Jewish people and to pray for Christian unity. This is more than a temporal coincidence: the celebration of the Sunday of the Word of God has ecumenical value, since the Scriptures point out, for those who listen, the path to authentic and firm unity.
