In anticipation of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, H.E. Archbishop Rino Fisichella, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, visited the Villa Maraini Foundation of the Italian Red Cross, an organization that for more than forty years has been dedicated to welcoming, supporting, and rehabilitating people living with addiction.

Welcomed by the Foundation's President, Founder, and Secretary General, Archbishop Fisichella met with volunteers, staff members, and collaborators, expressing his appreciation for their daily commitment to serving the most vulnerable.

During the visit, he also had the opportunity to speak with several residents currently undergoing rehabilitation, listening to their stories of life, suffering, and hope. The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of human and spiritual accompaniment, solidarity, and shared commitment in restoring dignity and offering a future to those who wish to embark on a path of renewal.

The visit forms part of the Church's broader commitment to promoting a culture of closeness, welcome, and hope, recognizing the importance of organizations that work every day in the service of the most vulnerable.
