IX Plenary Council of the Order: Archbishop Fisichella Calls for a Renewed Awareness of the Urgency of Evangelization
Rome, 15 October 2026 – As part of the proceedings of the IX Plenary Council of the Order (CPO), taking place in Rome from 11 to 31 October and dedicated to the missionary dimension of charismatic identity, H.E. Archbishop Rino Fisichella, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, addressed the assembly today with a reflection entitled “The Mission of the Church and the Challenges of the Contemporary World”.
At the heart of his address was the urgent need to proclaim the Gospel in an era marked by profound cultural, social and technological transformations.
The Pro-Prefect went on to identify several key paths for proclaiming Christ to people today: spirituality, prayer, the primacy of the Word of God, responsibility towards others, beauty, love and forgiveness.
In conclusion, H.E. Archbishop Fisichella encouraged those present to recognize the current epochal shift as a time of grace and missionary responsibility, recalling that what endures is not the voice of the one who proclaims, but the person being proclaimed: Jesus Christ.
