Meeting of catechetical leaders from Brazil

From 14 to 17 February 2024, Archbishop Rino Fisichella, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery, took part in the International Meeting of Catechists in Los Angeles. During the four days of the congress, around 60,000 people coming from communities speaking no less than 39 different languages were involved in periods of study, discussion, and prayer.

In recent days Mgr. Fisichella also had the chance to meet more than 100 people involved in catechesis, accompanied by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, Archbishop Horacio Gómez who is also the US Bishops’ President of the Commission for Evangelization and Catechesis.

The study seminar also saw a debate with the pro-prefect taking part. He used his interventions to reiterate the primacy of evangelization in catechesis by explaining the value of Kerigmatic Catechesis as envisaged by Pope Francis. Archbishop Fisichella encouraged the catechists to have confidence and courage, and to pay constant attention to the great theme of formation. The conference ended with a period of common prayer.
