Former official of the Dicastery for Evangelization, Monsignor Alejandro Diaz Garcia, has been named Auxiliary Bishop of Bogotà, Colombia
The Dicastery for Evangelization expresses its affection and support at the news of the nomination of Monsignor Alejandro Diaz Garcia as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Bogotà, in Colombia. Don Alejandro was an official of the Pontifical Council for New Evangelization for eight years, from 2012 to 2019.
Monsignor Garcia, a priest of the clergy of Bogotà, was appointed bishop today by Pope Francis, and will be ordained on May 4th in Colombia. Since 2021 he has served as animator of the archdiocesan team for the permanent formation of the clergy in Bogotà and, since 2022, he has been Episcopal Vicar of the vicariate of San Pablo, also in the Archdiocese.
