On October 11, 2022, the memorial of Pope St. John XXIII, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the beginning of the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council, the Holy Father Francis will preside over the Eucharistic Celebration in St. Peter's Basilica at 5 p.m.
At the end of the Celebration, a torchlight procession will take place in memory of that historic evening when Pope St. John XXIII gave his famous "moon speech," which has remained in our memories for his invitation to caress your children on behalf of the Pope.
This celebration marks the beginning of the Year of Preparation for Jubilee 2025 whereby Pope Francis calls for a return to the teachings of the four conciliar Constitutions.
